O RESPEITO À DIFERENÇA: contribuições da Teoria das Representações Sociais para as políticas de saúde voltadas a populações indígenas

Abstract

Based on a bibliogra-phical and documentary research, this work intends to discuss the main contributions that the Theory of Social Representations may bring to a specific field of social protection in Brazil: the Indigenous Healthcare National Policy. It tries to demonstrate that the social representations created by the social actors involved — indigenous people and health professionals —, regarding the various aspects of this issue, concerning themselves and “others”, in a scenary marked by inter-ethnic relationships, may generate different impacts on the Indigenous Peoples Healthcare National Policy (PNASPI), as well as they may suggest alternative ways for this policy to follow.
