Effect of self-efficacy of postgraduate students in Razi University of Kermanshah on their emotions after information retrieval
Abstract
Purpose: self-efficiency and individuals’ beliefs would effect on their emotions and play an important role in their formation. But what are their effects on students’ emotions after information retrieval? This research aimed to survey the effects of self-efficiency of graduate students in Razi University of Kermanshah on their emotions after information retrieval. Methodology: This applied research was conducted using a descriptive method. Data were gathered through a questionnaire whose validity approved by specialists. Reliability was measured by Cronbach’s alpha (0.76 to 0.88). Statistical population included postgraduate students of humanities in Razi University of Kermanshah studying in the second semester of 2017-2018. Questionnaire was distributed among statistical sample (306 person) and 278 returned questionnaires were analyzed. Findings: Findings showed that the students’ self-efficiency mean was higher than average. Students generally experienced positive emotions including happiness, calmness, and pride after information retrieval. Self-efficiency factors explained 26% of emotions after information retrieval in students. The component of “physiological state” had the greatest portion in explaining of emotions among the others. Conclusion: Results showed that students had seen themselves capable during the information retrieval, enjoyed the information retrieval, and experienced positive emotions, but not more than others. Having pleasant feelings during information retrieval had had the most effect on students’ emotions after information retrieval. Although self-efficiency factors had affected on students emotions after information retrieval, but explained an small part of this variable.
