A simplified valorization of mangosteen pericarps towards the production of purified alpha-mangostin (α-M) and gamma-mangostin (γ-M) was proposed. First, the ethanolic extraction conditions were optimized. At the optimal conditions, the yield of α-M and γ-M was 17.03 mg/g and 3.44 mg/g, respectively. Both compounds were separated using isocratic liquid chromatography. The effect of mobile phase composition on resolution and selectivity of separation was investigated. With 50 vol% acetonitrile solution, the resolution of 15.47 and the selectivity of 1.87 were achieved. The purification was demonstrated using preparative column, achieving the peak purity of 98.34 % for α-M and 98.46 % for γ-M.
