The summary activity of oxidases, catalases and antioxidant substances in tree buds of Quercus robur, which are characterized by different terms of leaf, was determined. In the cells of apical buds, in spring, the change in the components that determine the oxidative reduction potential is earlier than in the lateral buds. The acceleration of the activation of the mentioned enzymes may be caused by the earlier elimination of dormancy apical buds in comparison with lateral buds. The activity of the substances that characterize the oxido-reductive potential for the stem cells of the pedunculate oak with early leaf is significantly higher than that of late-leaf trees. Considering the fact that the predecessors of early-fall descendants are of Southern origin, and the late ones come from the central part of the country, it is possible that their descendants have inherited in time, probably epigenetically, the ability to eliminate the dormancy state in accordance with the characteristic period of the ancestral specimens.
