The results of a survey on Italian language teaching at various institutes in São Paulo can be found in this article. It was carried out in the framework of a research aiming at motivating the use of a hypermedium, while teaching modern languages. The hypermedium is considered an important tool for language teaching, on the basis of a humanistic approach and because it draws inspiration from a social constructivist vision of the school context. The use of a hypermedial tool in language teaching would guarantee flexibility, dynamism and openness and could thus be used in a varied and differentiated manner. The survey was carried out at three schools in São Paulo (Brazil) and at the University of Venice (Italy), with the intent to investigate the contact points between the actual usage of technologies in language teaching and the usage preferences. Data collection in the framework of the survey is substantial, therefore only the most prominent features of data collected are presented.
