colonization of gastric mucosa with Helicobacter pylori in patients with precancerous conditions (adenomatous polyp, hyperplastic polyp, focal hypertrophy, erosions) and gastric cancer (adenocarcinoma, signet ring cell carcinoma, carcinoid). The incidence of H. pylori infection was 75.5±3.1% in the overall patient population and 72.2±7.5% among patients with gastric cancer. The patients with gastric cancer had a high grade of colonization (104–105 CFU/biopsy). Most patients with precancerous conditions had intermediate and high grades of antral mucosa colonization with H. pylori. Antimicrobial susceptibility of H. pylori was determined by disk diffusion method. Susceptibility rates of H. pylori to clarithromycin, amoxicillin, metronidazole, tetracycline, and ciprofloxacin were 85%, 79%, 32%, 65%, and 90%, respectively.
