The title compound, C9H8N2OS, crystallizes with two molecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the 1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl ring system and the acetamide group are 2.7 (4) (molecule A) and 7.2 (2) Å (molecule B). In the crystal, pairs of N—H...N hydrogen bonds link the A and B molecules into dimers, generating R22(8) loops. The dimers stack along [100].
