he text aims to present some critical reflections on the practice of teaching with very small children in contexts of Early Childhood Education. Its main objective is to investigate and interpret the different minutiae of daily life in the knowledge and to teach with very small children, emphasizing the participation of children as one of the fundamental axes for the construction of educational and pedagogical relations with. The data were generated by oral and written narratives of public school teachers about the institutional dynamics in relation to the participation of children in the different moments of the routines. We found that the lack of recognition of child participation is connected to conceptions, discourses and practices linked to the idea of a pedagogical relationship based on images of children who are in need, incompetent, immature, that feeds in practice a certain type of resistance to the right of the child to participate.Keyword: Early Childhood Education.
