Efectele adverse consecutive tratamentului citostatic la animalele de companie
Abstract
The purpose of cytostatic treatment is to destroy as many neoplastic cells as possible with as few adverse effects on the body as possible. This goal is difficult to achieve due to the increased toxicity and non-selectivity of the cytotoxic agents. The cytotoxicity of chemotherapies results in adverse effects occurring in all body tissues, organs and systems. Nowadays, complications and unwanted effects resulting from chemotherapy are being studied trying to reduce them. The purpose of this review is to analyze the gathered information on the side effects following cytostatics therapy, presenting the causes and factors leading to their occurrence, the levels of toxicity to the organism as well as methods of reducing them.
