Challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic on the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program: a mixed-methods Swedish survey in the COPE Staff cohort study
Abstract
Highlights • There is widespread worry among OB-GYN residents that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on their residency program • Significant cancellation/postponement of scheduled educational activities, reductions in surgical activities, transfer of residents to other healthcare institutions (including COVID-19 wards), reduced research time and extra hours of clinical work were reported • Residents towards the end of their residencies were more affected as compared to junior residents regarding missed educational activities • Strategies to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on resident education and work situation are immediately needed
