METHODOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTION OF A LAND USE PLANNING MODEL FOR LATIN AMERICA
Abstract
A new methodology derived from a new theoretical model of geographic space based in four categories is presented. The relationship between those components builds six axes that can be linked to political social discourse providing a bridge between the scientific knowledge that supports the land use planning and the discourse of decision makers. From the model, just over 60 indicators, derived from statistics currently in use in most Latin American countries were selected. Finally, a methodology for the construction of the land use planning instruments is proposed, it has been tested at three different scales with cases of Mexico as a pilot test, producing it a set of well suited instruments.
