Abstract
The choice of hormonal and alternative therapy in menopausal and post-menopausal period Kuznetsova I.V. First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M.Sechenov (Sechenov University), Moscow Menopause is a key moment in the aging of a female reproductive system. Termination of menstrual function is associated with a change in a number of biological and physiological processes and is accompanied by the appearance of the symptoms that can affect the quality of life of patients and have negative long-term consequences. The most frequent symptoms are vasomotor symptoms - hot flashes and night sweats, which often make a woman to apply to a doctor. Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is the gold standard for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms, it is selected individually depending on the woman’s initial status. But there are contraindications to MHT, in addition, some women refuse to use hormones for various reasons. In such situations it is recommended to use non-hormonal methods of correction of menopausal symptoms, the choice of which is currently quite large. In the review, special attention is paid to the principles of choosing the hormonal or non-hormonal correction of the vasomotor symptoms of menopausal syndrome, the variants of the appointment of MHT (tibolone) and alternative therapy (highly purified pollen extract) in perimenopause and postmenopause, taking into account the proven efficacy and safety of these drugs in various clinical situations.
