Natural fibers replace synthetic reinforcing fibers in polymer composites due to its biodegradability, strength, and satisfactory adhesion to the polymer matrix. Pineapple unidirectional fiber mats were reinforced in epoxy resin to fabricate pineapple fiber reinforced epoxy composite. Drilling experiments were conducted under different conditions of machining by Taguchi L27 orthogonal array. The thrust force exerted on the composite during drilling was studied and correlated with the machining parameters. Statistical modeling was done to establish the mathematical relationship between the input parameters and output responses. Genetic algorithm was used for optimizing thrust force. It was found that the highest speed, lowest feed, and lowest drill diameter were found to give the minimal thrust force.
