Background: Hemangiomas are benign vascular neoplasms resulting from abnormal vascular proliferation. Thyroid hemangiomas are rare occurrences with only 33 cases reported in the literature. There are no previous reports of concurrent thyroid hemangioma with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Materials and methods: A case presentation with a brief review of the literature regarding thyroid hemangiomas was performed. A 56-year-old female was found to have a right thyroid goiter and left papillary thyroid carcinoma diagnosis preoperatively, ultimately undergoing total thyroidectomy. Results: A thyroid hemangioma was diagnosed on final pathology with a foci of papillary thyroid carcinoma ipsilaterally. Conclusions: This is the first case that identified concurrent thyroid hemangioma and papillary thyroid carcinoma. Thyroid hemangiomas are uncommon, yet represent an important aspect of the differential diagnosis for thyroid goiter.
