Stacking interactions in the crystal structures of mixed ligand square-pyramidal copper(ii) complexes with aromatic 1,10-phenanthroline or 2,2´-bipyridine ligands and acetylacetonate
Abstract
Four novel mononuclear square-pyramidal complexes with composition [Cu(acac)(phen)(DMF)]BF4 (1), [Cu(acac)(phen)(H2O)]BF4 (2), [Cu(acac)(phen)(NO3)]MeOH (3) and [Cu(acac)(phen)Cl]MeOH (4), (phen = phenanthroline and acac = acetylacetonate) have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The supramolecular structures of these novel complexes and related complexes found in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), which contain a planar [Cu(acac)(AA)] fragment, where AA denotes phen or 2,2´-bipyridine (bipy)/4,4´-dimethyl-2,2´-dipyridine (Me2bipy), have been analyzed from in terms of stacking interactions in these systems.
