Current possibilities for developing nuclear medicine in Russia

Abstract

Focus in this article is placed on the areas of application of nuclear medicine methods, the existing structure of the nuclear medicine market in the world and the scope of implementation of these methods into practice of the Russian health care. Some criteria for selecting the regions and medical institutions to be taking part in the implementation of the national program on the development of nuclear medicine are determined. The existing experience is pooled and the conclusions drawn by experts on the challenges and opportunities of training highly qualified non-medical specialists for nuclear medicine are given.
