A continuum model for solitons in the twisted magnetic liquid crystals
Abstract
We systematically explore the solitons in the twisted magnetic liquid crystals using a continuum model. Firstly, we derive the dynamic equation of the twisted magnetic liquid crystal sheet under the control of magnetic field. It is proved to be a Sine-Gordon equation. Solving the equation, we get the kink and anti-kink soliton solution and breather solution. Finally, we proved that under the control of the magnetic field, the twist motion of the magnetic liquid crystal, which is regarded as the continuum model, can produce solitons and breathers.
