Given the fact that Romania has been recently integrated into the European structures, bringing all public institutions to the proper standards is extremely important. The health care system is in no way an exception. On the contrary, the attention of the authorities should focus primarily towards improving the quality of the medical services, for an increase on the quality of life. These medical services, as their names show, mean a set of goods offered to a consumer, to a beneficiary. Their right to these goods is guaranteed by law and thus, there is no one that may contribute more to its optimisation. The Centre for Health Policy and Public Health, Cluj has initiated a pilot study in order to measure patient satisfaction regarding medical services and doctors’ performance. The study has been conducted at the public Gynaecology Clinic 1 in Cluj-Napoca. The study also aims to offer a comparison between the results of the hospital’s self-evaluation system and those revealed by the evaluation made by the initiators of this project.
