Our study works with the comparison between some paintings of Cndido Portinari and the only juvenile book of Graciliano Ramos (A terra dos meninos pelados Naked boys land). Based in commentaries of the own artists and of critics like Rodrigo Naves and Antonio Candido, we try to demonstrate there is in both artists a specific work way (that is, a basically invariable one), even in what we suppose innovated to both. Because that, we see become visible in A terra dos meninos pelados (a supposedly imaginative text) traces of a social perception that is also present in Gracilianos greatest works; on the other hand, observing Portinari, we find out a certain degree of cubism and expressionism that is actually a rework according to his style. So the two go beyond what had been producing esthetically, but remain deeply coherent to a same model of artistic work.
