The novels entitled Les Alouettes naïves and Tels des astres éteints by Assia and Leonora show us characters in crisis with themselves and the world around them. Those characters who freely chose to leave their birth places have now become prisoners of their past lives there and their present lives in their host country. This article tries to study the way the incredible experience of migration can influence the memory of migrating characters and change their relations or perception with/of the other and the space. In this article, we will see how two characters, Rachid and Amok are portrayed in their struggle with their memories that are haunted by an omnipresent past that influences their daily relation with the world. Through those characters, we will see the stakes of the memory and the way it helps dismiss the birth place.
