Prevalence and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy in Wusu city Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Abstract

AIM:To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy(DR)in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)lived in Wusu city Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.METHODS:Totally 3 465 patients with DM were studied, and the related factors such as patient's age, gender, region, race, diabetes duration, fasting blood glucose, blood lipid and blood pressure were analyzed.RESULTS:Totally 1 079 patients(31.14%)were found with DR in 3 465 cases. The risk factors included the living region, diabetes duration, fasting blood sugar level and blood pressure(PP>0.05).CONCLUSION:The living region, diabetes duration, fasting blood glucoselevel and blood pressure are risk factors for DR.
