GENDERED BASES OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMAN: NIĞDE CASE

In this study, it is aimed to determine the impact of violence against women and of thoughts and practices based on the gendered and sexual discrimination on negativeness and inhibition for women. In this regard, the manner in which conflict, functionalist and feminist theories handle the issue has been put forward. Based on the theoretical framework, 248 questionnaires and interviews in 23 districts of Niğde city center were conducted between 10th and 25th of March 2012. Then after, the evaluation in light of the collected qualitative and quantitative data has been undertaken. In accordance to this evaluation, it has been concluded that there has been still patriarchal and thus gendered influence among the individuals and in turn this influence has likely create the space for further legitimization of sexual and gendered discrimination within the society.
