Analysis of the Yeralti Movie in the Context of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Theory

Abstract

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the psychotherapy approaches that has been proven effective in the treatment of many mental problems and the effectiveness of which has been studied the most. The aim of this research is to examine the Underground film, which received the best film award at Osian's Cinefan Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival, within the framework of CIS. In the film, the discourse and behavior of Muharrem and the other actors, who have anger control problems and existential problems, have been analyzed in terms of the concepts and opinions of CIS. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in this study. In the study, a large number of examples related to the basic concepts and assumptions of CBT such as cognitive structure, ABC model, cognitive distortions were identified and explained. It is thought that the study and embodiment of the theoretical and conceptual dimensions of the CBT through film analysis, which will be performed on different topics, will contribute to professional professionals working in the field of mental health and people receiving education.
