Potentials, difficulties and strategies in care for indigenous peoples in brazilian primary care: integrative review
Abstract
Objective: To identify in the scientific literature the potentialities, difficulties and strategies for equitable health assistance to indigenous peoples in Brazilian Primary Care. Method: Integrative review with search in three databases, carried out by two researchers independently, in May 2020, the sample being composed of 11 articles. Descriptive statistics were used with relative and absolute frequency. Results: The main potential was the legislation (81.8%) that guarantees health as a right to the indigenous people. As a difficulty, the deficit of health professionals (72.7%) was observed, and as a strategy, the strengthening of human resources (54.5%) and reformulation of public health policies (45.5%). Conclusions: Health as a right to indigenous peoples contributes to the structuring of health services, however, health prrofessionals are scarce to act in context. As a strategy, there is professional training for cross- cultural care, with improvement of working conditions and implementation of telehealth.
