PERSONALITY AND LITERARY WORKS OF M.A. SHOLOKHOV AS PART OF CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN PROSE: THE BASIC TRENDS OF PERCEPTION
Abstract
The article analyzes examples of the contemporary authors’ references to the biography and works of M.A. Sholokhov, the renowned Russian writer of the twentieth century. Artistic principles of epic narrative, peculiar to Sholokhov’s prose, are not in demand by modern literature; Sholokhov’s narratives are adapted - the emphasis is on family/household and love themes. However, at the same time Sholokhov’s allusions are instrumental in the creation of the unique historical background, giving credence to the literary descriptions of the 1920s-1930s, and the interest in Sholokhov’s characters and stories correlates with the general cultural interest in the rethinking of the Soviet past.
