Abstract
This paper analyzes the United States’ foreign policy towards Spain during the Spanish Civil War, focusing on the diplomatic relationships with the Second Spanish Republic, the reasons behind neutrality, the reactions of the American public opinon and the failed attempts by President F. D. Roosevelt to help the beleaguered Spanish Government.
