As teachers, our goal is to pass on knowledge and to ensure our students develop professional skills and acquire qualification future profession. Transmitting knowledge has traditionally been ensured through a long period of apprenticeship with peers. But the current situations of learning and working are changing within environments always more mediated. In this paper we examine the key notions touching the training for a given profession and its practice later on. In the course of our analysis we examine the different ways this experiential dimension becomes integrated in the acquisition of competence today. To answer this question, we analyze two case studies of teaching situations mediated by information and communication technologies: one in academia, the other in industry, specifically in Electricité de France (EDF) nuclear engineering. They show that intellectualized work now uses subjective and cognitive abilities that are fulfilled in practicing social networks.
