Combination of internal and external brain decompression due to repeated rupture and thrombosis of aneurysm with intracerebral haematoma: case report

Abstract

The following is a clinical history of the patient with rupture and subsequent thrombosis of the aneurysm of the middle cerebral artery on the left, complicated by an intracerebral haematoma and extensive infarction of the brain in the corresponding circulation system. Acute intracranial pathology was accompanied by a comatose state. The patient underwent an urgent surgical treatment, which included an extensive craniotomy and an external ventricular drain. The postoperative stage was complicated by a septic condition and a lung abscess. Surgical removal of the lung abscess was combined with antibiotic therapy, Pentaglobin and Thymalin. From the beginning of disease, the patient was referred for combined antioxidant therapy. As a result, the patient was discharged to outpatient treatment. Two years after surgery, the patient’s condition is relatively satisfactory.
