Dynamics of value orientations of ukrainian students at the time of independence: return to “materialism”?

Abstract

In this article basing at empirical researches data made by sociologists of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2000-2017 the dynamic characteristics, hierarchy and typological features of value orientations were analyzed. The attention is focused at changes in the value preferences of student youth, in particular at their postmaterialization (postmodernization), which were actualized in the first decade of the XXI century. The factors of possible return to materialistic value discourse, signs of which were recorded within the research carried out in 2017, were detected. The conclusion that despite the indicated tendency of materialization of value orientations of student youth, which requires deeper study, we can talk about continuing of the a trend towards the postmodernization of the value consciousness of the national higher school students, was made.
