The Consequences of Fear of Covid-19: A Meta-analysis Study

Abstract

The fear felt due to Covid-19 affects the life of the people. The purpose of this study is surveying the effect of fear of Covid-19 job satisfaction, turnover intention, and burnout. The collected data is analyzed by using meta-analysis tehnique. Scopus, Web of Science and GoogleScholar databases are search to collect data and 9 suitable studies are brought together. The collected studies provided 13 correlation values. The collected data is analyzed by using CMA software. Heterogeneity, publication bias and significance are analyzed. The effect size is computed. It is revealed that the data set is heterogenous. Random effects model is used. According to the findings there is no publication bias in the data set. The findings of this study indicated that there is a positive effect size of fear of Covid-19 on turnover intention and burnout, and a negative effect on job satisfaction. The author could search the literature only in English, German, and Turkish. The results of this study still provided some generalized results, but it could provide more generalized results. The healthcare managers can use the findings of this study to prepare management policies when there is a high fear of Covid-19 among the employees. This paper conducted a prior research to review the fear of Covid-19 literature and determined some significant antecedents of this construct. The authors used the findings of the other studies and conducted a meta-analytic review including the effects of burnout, job satisfaction, and turnover intention on fear of Covid-19.
