Objective To investigate the current status and distribution of job burnout among medical personnel in tuberculosis prevention and treatment of Chongqing, and provide suggestion for improving tuberculosis prevention and treatment. Methods From September 2021 to May 2022, stratified cluster random sampling was used to investigate medical personnel engaged in tuberculosis prevention and treatment in 16 districts and counties of Chongqing Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS) was used to measure the degree of job burnout, and multiple logistics regression was used to analyze the distribution of burnout among medical personnel in tuberculosis prevention and treatment. Results Among 1 194 participants in tuberculosis prevention and treatment, 761 found to have different levels of burnout, among which 364 (31.9%) were mild burnout, 299(26.2%) were moderate burnout and 98 (8.6%) were severe burnout. Compared with those who perceived themselves in good health, medical personnel who perceived their health as poor were more likely to experience mild (OR: 2.68, 95%CI: 1.40~5.13) to moderate burnout (OR: 3.50, 95%CI: 1.77~6.93) and those who perceived their health as average were more likely to experience moderate (OR: 1.81, 95%CI: 1.28~2.58) to severe burnout(OR: 1.95, 95%CI: 1.19~3.22). The unmarried were more likely to experience mild (OR: 3.27, 95%CI: 1.18~9.12) and moderate burnout(OR: 8.96, 95%CI: 2.64~30.45) than those who got divorced. The medical personnel in village clinics were more prone to moderate burnout than those in centers of disease control and prevention (OR: 0.38, 95%CI: 0.17~0.84). Conclusion The rate of job burnout is relatively high among medical personnel of tuberculosis prevention and treatment in Chongqing. Those medical personnel who perceived their health status are not good, got unmarried and worked in village clinic are more likely to experience different levels of job burnout.
