The aim of the work is to identify and characterize the archival heritage of M. I. Saharda, which was deposited in the departmental and personal fonds of the Institute of Manuscript of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, scientific objectivity and a combination of methods of historical research - historical, comparative, chronological, source study, archival study, bibliographic. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time archival documents relating to the life and work of M. I. Saharda were comprehensively revealed and brought into scientific circulation. The analysis of the content and composition of documents was carried out, and the systematization of the identified documentary resources as an integral information assembly was also done. The scientific potential of the scientist was investigated, his works are classified according to thematic and chronological principles, published and unpublished materials from his scientific heritage are established. On the basis of archival sources, the life path of M. I. Saharda and the main stages of his scientific, pedagogical, labor activity are reconstructed. The informational components of the archival heritage of the scientist are determined as sources on the history of librarianship in Ukraine and, in particular, the formation of specialized fonds during the founding and formation of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Conclusions. The archival heritage of M. I. Saharda is preserved in various archives. A significant set of documents of the scientist was deposited in the personal, departmental and complex fonds of the Institute of Manuscript of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The discovered archival heritage includes materials of various genres and topics of various origins and acquisition and covers the period of 1918-1933. The unification of the scattered archival heritage of M. I. Saharda into a single information resource will make it possible to more effectively attract the discovered documents into scientific circulation and contribute to the multifaceted study of the scientific heritage of the scientist.
