Abstract
Climate change poses significant challenges to the agrifood sector, affecting producers' incomes and food security. This review explores recent climate-smart innovations in agrifood that enhance producers' incomes while promoting sustainable solutions. The importance of addressing climate change in the agrifood sector and its impact on producers' incomes are introduced. Climate-Smart Agriculture and its core principles are defined. The significance of adopting climate-smart practices for the agrifood industry is discussed, emphasizing the potential benefits in terms of productivity, resilience, and income generation for producers. Key climate-smart innovations, including precision agriculture techniques, sustainable farming practices, and the role of digital platforms and data analytics, are highlighted. Real-world examples of agrifood businesses and organizations implementing climate-smart innovations are presented, outlining the benefits and limitations of their approaches. The challenges faced in implementing climate-smart innovations, such as financial barriers, technological limitations, and knowledge gaps, are discussed.
