O nacionalismo galego no contexto da Grande Guerra: “regaleguizar” e internacionalizar
Abstract
The article analyses the creation of the Irmandades da Fala (Language Brotherhoods) between 1916 and 1923, as the first organization of modern Galician nationalism, in an Iberian and European context. Their goals were to reinstate Galician values and build a project of “integral autonomy” for Galicia, similar to the national sub-state projects in Catalonia and the Basque Country. Besides that, the Irmandades da Fala intended to give an international dimension to the Galician national question by establishing connections with Portugal and Ireland, which was, at that time, the mirror of European nationalities.
