This article describes the political situation in which Microhistory and global history developed. It also proposes a broad definition of both fields in order to establish the methodological innovations derived from them. At the same time, the author presents a series of renewed perspectives, which enable the study of the influence of these trends and the relationships they established with other social sciences —besides History and Anthropology— and the political and scientific directions of the current historiographical debate. This study aims to clarify the uncertainties of the concept of the global.
