• Background: Infertility is one of the common problems in different communities and can cause anxiety in women with the problem. This study was done to evaluate the causes of infertility in patients underwent laparoscopy. • Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study to investigate the files of 300 cases with infertility who admitted to Shaid Beheshti hospital in Isfahan for laparoscopy. Information from registration files collected in a checklist and then entered and analyzed in SPSS software. • Finding: The most frequent patients (56.3%) were classified in the 21-30 years old age group and minimum frequency was seen in patients older than 40 years old. 63 percent of the subjects were suffering from primary infertility. In general, 28.3% of patients had normal laparoscopic findings. The most frequent cause of infertility was adhesion and blocked fallopian tubes and endometriosis was the lowest cause (2.3%). • Conclusion: Generally, frequent cause of infertility is adhesion and blocked fallopian tubes and the gold standard technique for diagnosing this situation is laparoscopy. Therefore, it seems that the use of laparoscopy in the diagnosis of cause of infertility is a safe and useful method. Moreover, given that pelvic infection is the common cause of blocked fallopian tubes, evaluating people can be an effective strategy to prevent the infection and infertility.
