VNIIZhT Scientific Journal celebrates 80th Anniversary! Part II. Victory, post-war recovery and modern development
Abstract
Introduction. Each scientific journal should meet the needs of its readers and the imperatives of its time. The journal can acquire such status if it accomplishes its main mission: increasing the volume of scientific knowledge available to the society. This requires organisation of a meaningful scientific discourse on its pages. The purpose of the article is to study the history of the Railways Technology Journal development after the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, when the post-war restoration of the economy and the intensive development of communications using advanced scientific knowledge became the topmost priorities. The article ends with an assessment of the current state of the journal and future prospects for its development.Materials and methods. The authors used historical, analytical and logical methods of scientific knowledge.Results. The Railways Technology Journal archives testified to the serious changes that took place in scientific journalism. The editorial staff was constantly looking for new ways of interacting with readers, optimising the format of the journal, redefining sections, etc. Ultimately, the journal was renamed: since 1956 the Railways Technology Journal became known as the Bulletin of the All-Union Railway Research Institute. To a large extent, this was due to fundamental changes in the activities of the publisher, the Central Research Institute of the People's Commissariat of Communication Routes of the USSR. Discussion and conclusion. The study of the history of the country's leading railway science journal enables to draw conclusions about the state of the science at the time, as well as the goals set by the country and about the era as a whole. The publication is the final part of the article dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the journal.
