GLOBAL RE-INSERTION, RE-POSITIONING AND RE-SIGNIFICATION OF CHINA: BETWEEN COOPERATION AND HEGEMONY 1990 -2014
Abstract
Nowadays, the world is a witness of how China is projecting itself as a relevant actor in the international system, where the most important factor is to understand its potential and to observe the tension between the cooperation and hegemony that is currently dominating its foreign policy. This tension is formed by the trilogy of re-insertion, repositioning, and resignification; the clear message of cooperation and how it overshadows its dominance is central, whereas the hegemony is the pillar which is slowly gaining ground in China’s foreign policy. Today it is possible to notice that China is gradually promoting a more complex stage of re-positioning and resignification.
