[Purpose/Significance] With the application of new technology, smart agriculture is the inevitable choice which can promote the development of agriculture. But there are some questions which cannot be solved such as weak technology foundation, food quality and safety, and information asymmetry. In order to prompt and improve the development of intellectual agriculture, we combine blockchain with smart agriculture. [Method/Process] Through the analysis of the characteristics and content of blockchain, the paper first demonstrates that blockchain can complement and improve the key technologies of smart agriculture and help to establish the safe, transparent, efficient and reciprocity development model. Then this paper analyzes the necessity of the integrated development of blockchain and smart agriculture. [Results/Conclusions] Based on the framework of blockchain and combined with the characteristics of smart agriculture, the paper designs the blockchain framework of smart agriculture, and the application fields based on blockchain are discussed. As a result, the feasibility of the integrated development of blockchain and smart agriculture is demonstrated.
