“Tu lengua hace de mi cuerpo un país entero” : Érotisme et revendications poé(li)tiques chez Irma Pineda

Abstract

Through writing desire and erotism, the book of poems Rojo Deseo, by the zapotec poet Irma Pineda, turn into question the borders created by the colonial and patriarchal representations which dominate the tehuanas’ and mestis’ sexuality: it aims to deconstruct the subordination of women’s bodies to males' bodies, out of the community but also inside. Recognising the intersectionnality of the fights against racism, sexism and heteronormativity, erotism is becoming political: the poetical voice regain the space of her body to turn it into a territory of her’s own. From there, she can claim her sovereignty and her subjectivity. Nourished by the Zapotec’s culture and play on words, the erotic game arises in the bilingual writing and in the prints that come with it: it is an ethnical and queer erotism that is being claimed and reveals the fertility of the cross-border area, inviting to the definition of a new relationship with the Other, based on reciprocity and not on elimination.
