Concept under construction: considerations on the definition of Graphic Design throughout the years

Abstract

Through the analysis of descriptions adopted by institutions, associations and other references of Graphic Design in Brazil, we intend to investigate steady and changeable aspects concerning the conceptual theory of the field. By analyzing the definitions of ICOGRADA and ADG Brasil about the profession, we notice how the role of the graphic designer has been described over the years and how it manifests in the literature and in the theory of Graphic Design.
