Investigating and modeling the dynamics of long ties

Abstract

Social network analysis has been long involved in studying social ties. The authors study the dynamics of long ties using mobile phone dataset, finding that long ties typically persist for longer than short ties, suggesting implications for social intervention to support long ties.
