The Juvenile Justice System from a Sociological Perspective: Between Loose Coupling and Assembly Line
Abstract
The paper promotes a bibliographic review on juvenile justice in the sociology field in Brazil. The studies are divided into three groups: the classic ones, which focus on the socio-demographic profile of adolescents conflicting the law; a second group, composed, in its majority, of ethnographic content studies, reinforcing the argument of loose coupling; and, finally, ratifying the idea of assembly line justice, research on the integration of institutions. The article demonstrates the strengthening of organizational approaches and the prominence of criminal subjection processes in the recent trajectory of juvenile justice in the country.
