The culture of the peanut is of great importance for the Brazilian agriculture and the liming is a technique consecrated for the handling of tropical soils, however, the excessive use of lime can commit the development of the cultures. Aiming at to evaluate the vegetative growth and the tenors of nutrients in the aerial part of the peanut plants, in function of the application of excessive doses of lime, settled an experiment in the house of vegetation of the University of the West From São Paulo. The used vases were of 18 dm3, and the soil (Distroferric Red Argissoil) the was conditioned a density of approximately 1,2 g cm-3. Cultivating of used peanut was IAC Tatu ST, being left two plants by vase. They were done you water daily rates and 60 days after emergency the aerial part it was collected that it was submitted to analytic determinations to quantify the tenors of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur and boron in the aerial part. It was ended that the growth of the peanut is not affected by the liming excess, in spite of there being clear reduction in the production of dry matter. K of the soil suffered strong reduction with the increase of the liming and the readiness of Ca in the soil, for your time, it was little expressive with the use of the doses relatively low.
