Environmental awareness in university students. A study of the hierarchy of Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate how university students prioritize sustainable development objectives (SDOs) and the importance they attach to the SDGs related to environmental care; as well as their interest to participate in environmental activities. The objectives that students consider priorities were in order of rank: quality education, end of poverty, health and well-being, decent work and economic growth, and zero hunger. Although there is a motivation to participate in pro-environmental activities, when they make decisions the environmental objectives are not sufficiently valued. The environmental is not a priority for the university students of this sample. Socioeconomic goals are prioritized.
