Abstract

This article provides a summary of our knowledge of the Roman military apparatus during the period 284-410 AD, focusing on those aspects that have given rise to the most lively debate and those where recent research has particularly advanced our knowledge. The aim is to provide useful guidance in an overflowing bibliography, taking into account the ease or difficulty of access.
