By enlarging the world view of the subject and by experiencing new realities, through his subjectivity and aesthetic character, literature helps him to be more understandable and self-knowing. Among the literary works that are making a success among the public, are the best sellers The Fault in Our Stars (2012), by Jonh Green, which addresses the lives of some young people facing cancer, and As The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2007), by Chbosky, which brings on the scene a teenager who suffers from feeling alone. In view of this, our work aims to bring some definitions about literature, as well as to understand some of the reasons for the success of mass literature in the world of avid readers. In order to do so, the above mentioned literary works were recorded and, subsequently, a brief qualitative analysis, based on bibliographical research on the subject. It has become possible to understand that some novels of mass literature problematize the life of young people and place at the center of the plot themes that were previously sociologically marginalized or only strongly neglected in the literature, such as cancer, depression, first love and questions about sexuality.
