In this paper we study some aspects of imitatio in two Baroque Panegyrics: Marino’s Il Ritratto di Carlo Emanuello, duca di Savoia and Bocángel’s Retrato Panegírico del infant don Carlos de Austria. The comparison between the two texts evidences the influence of the Italian model on the laudatory poem written by the courtier in Madrid.
