In this essay, we use the provocation of the possibility of artificial intelligence involving the physical merger of humans and machines to explore cognitive extension and the co-evolution of humans and technology. Our aim is to show that far from the stereotypical vision of cyborgs requiring chips in their brain, we are already becoming cognitively extended by the internet, and this is the product of a co-evolutionary development of the internet itself.
