Ventriloquism makes the speaker minimize the movement of the lips and jaws so that it seems as if the sound or utterance is being produced by a puppet that is being played. In this study, the authors examine the principles applied by ventriloquists in producing Indonesian vowel sounds using the method of acoustic analysis (spectography). The research data were obtained from the speeches of three Indonesian ventriloquists in a video entitled Tutorial Ventriloquism Moveless Lips (Ventriloquist Indonesia) on Tenggo Wicaksono's YouTube channel and analyzed using the Praat device series 6.2.10 by adopting the IPO design stage (Instituut voor Perceptie Onderzoek). From reading formants 1 and 2 on the spectrogram, the three ventriloquists in this study carried out the exact same strategy for the production of vowel sounds, namely by changing the position of the tongue lower than when speaking normally, except for the sound [a] which is the only sound. the only vowel sound with the tongue elevated. However, in moving the tongue horizontally, each respondent carried out a different strategy, some changed the position of the tongue to be more forward, others changed it the other way around.
